This new yammy?
I do believe the new 450 yamaha was built with one thing in mind. Mx. I think yamaha wants this bike to go out and win the mx championship next year. From first looks, the suspension and the stance looks like it will be a great bike to ride and jump. The motor is going to be another question. I dont think it was built to out run the Raptor. It will probably be strong enough to give everyone a run for there money, but dont think it will dethrone the big bore bikes.

Sorry man but, the YZF motor is a monster and will soundly spank all comers (once it is brought from a de-tuned state). The big question is the chassis and weight. It does have rezzies already so, I think this is going to be a serious bike.

A run for its money? A run for $1,200 more! Every manufacturer should have a 400, 450 to 500, and a big bore (650 or bigger), in their lineup. The Yamaha is great, if for no other reason than it gives the other manufacturers a wake-up call!!
Honda didn't come out with the 450 until Yamaha came out with the 426. And Yamaha didn't come out with the 450, until Honda came out with the 450. Get the picture????? Competition is good for us consumers!!!!!!!!!! You can believe that Yamaha would be happy just selling us the old, tired Warrior for ever, if they could MAKE MONEY at it.
