On my way to Black River Falls, WI to beat myself up on sandy woops, I stopped by a dealer who was rumored to have the new Yammi 450...sure enough there she stood. Nice, clean machine...kinda wonder how long a plastic seat latch is gonna last. Basically looks like a stipped down, and downsized Raptor.

There happened to be a brand new Cannibal sitting next to the 450, so I decided to perform a little "let's lift the quads and see how light they feel", by no means scientific, but can give a person a good idea. The 450 sure felt about the same weight. C'dale dry weighs 375....this again makes me think that Yammi's scales are a bit optomistic. Time will tell. The Cannibal, all shiny and new was being offered at $5000. Sure looks sweet. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

 

the thing is that when yamaha is releasing something new and exciting,it is always overrated in the weights specs,when the SRX 700 came out,they always wrote on their site at 522 lbs wich in real was more close to 540-545...
i think they're all lying in some parts...

 

Maybe they're being honest about what the scales say, but the fuel tanks are filled with helium. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img] Full fluids, and independent, certified scales. I want to see it.

 

istn the 315 lbs.. dry weight? and also did u try lifting the front end or rear end or both? mayb the yammi is front or rear end heavy?

 

For 315 lbs dry that's still optimistic. Who cares about dry weight anyway. I'm sure it takes around 3 gallons of gas @ 8 pounds/gallon, so there's 24 lbs. 2 quarts of oil (approximately), so probably another 10 lbs. And then there's the water for the radiator. I'm assuming it holds one gallon, so....another 8 lbs. That gives us around 357 pounds....heck maybe they don't count brake fluid or water/acid in the battery either??? One of the guys on here weighed his, and it came in at 370 lbs full of gas and ready to run. Magazine "specs" are always way off. The only way to know the truth is to know someone with the bike or to have one yourself.

But....it doesn't matter how much or how little your quad weighs, if the rider is sporting a big beer belly. That power to weight ratio stuff everyone is talking about goes right out the window. People need to start talking quad + rider weight.

 

The 450 weighs 350 and the cannon weighs 375 unless they have the exact same weight distribution front to back it would be hard to feel the difference of 25 pounds.

About 380lbs makes me feel better than 350 and being scared that'll bend, twist, and break.

Also, I did lift both front and rear of each, many times. Actually climbed all over both of them....had a hard time not loading the Cannibal in the back of the truck. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

 

Modquad, I bet you could do some cool stuff with the Cannondale with all that Titanium
