Default Need Help, Sick of This !! LT250r

Hey guys, now I know there are a lot of threads on this topic already, but I'm still having problems, I'm seriously hoping some people that really know what there talking about can help me out with this. My 86 quadracer's chain will NOT stay tight. It just refuses to. I checked the bearings in the carrier and seals, the bearings move freely, and the seals look ok. I've also replaced the bolts in the swingarm with grade 8 bolts and cranked them down, STILL the chain loosens up, can anyone give me a suggestion on how to keep this thing tight????????????????????????? I'd really appreciate some help, thanks

You have the round style carrier right? Hmmm.....is your carrier moving? Sure your chain isn't shot? If your carrier moves I am stumped along with you cause I don't have that problem and I put neverseize on it so I could turn it easier too!

Yeah, tell me about it,I do have the round style swingarm, I'm stumped too, the carrier IS moving inside the swingarm, I marked it off so that I could be sure, I do have a new O-ring chain and rear sprocket, thanks for checking this out, I really hope I can figure it out

This might sound crazy but take the carrier out and rough it up a bit where it contacts the swingarm and do the same to the inside of the swingarm. That way it has some grip to hold it.
Know what I mean?

Yeah, I have to agree with superstar, try roughening up the carrier, maybe it will help it hold better. Are the pinch bolts clamping down all the way? Oh, and look for cracks also, that could cause it to slide as well. It may be that either the swingarm or carrier are just wore out.

you carrier is made of alumium, and it wears very quickly cuz its so soft, but its light, the trade off is weight vs. durability, any aftermarket carrier will most likely solve your problem, but there really expensive

Thanks for the replies guys, I did have an Lonestar carrier in it, (which came with the bike when I got it), however the lonestar aligns the sprocket slightly left, therefore making it throw the chain, so I got a stock one on ebay, anyway the lonestar one did fit tighter, but the chain still loosened up.
