Default Gasket problems

I was wondering about how to check if you have blown a base gasket. Are there any ways?

hello!
well you could start the bike and listen to the idle... then spary some carb cleaner at the base.
if it's sucking air you will be able to tell...
also i have heard that this is a commen problem.... i don't know why.. i haven't had that happen to me. (YET)
hope this helps.....

as i said i haven't had to do this yet... but i'm almost positive thats what you would use..
you don't have to soak it down... frist place i would check is under the reed cage... start the bike bring it to an idle.. then just spay some (not a lot) find the leak and turn the bike off ....

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! besides even if you could use bubbly water (but you don't) it's not like a tire.
your motor will not bubble like a tire..... if you have an air leak it will suck the air into the motor
and cause it to rev above normal. when you spray the carb cleaner on the leak it should idle down... places to check: under the reed cage, the boot from the carb to the reeds, the head gasket and the crank seals. one is easy (the flywheel side) take that cover off and try to get some carb cleaner behind the flywheel (while the bike is running)
here's something you could do.. call a local shop and ask them how to check for an air leak.
i'm 90% sure they will tell you the same as i have.. and if they don't call another shop..
what ever you do don' use water....
hope this helps

Actually that is backwards.
First of all use starting fluid, it will give better results, second, when you spray, the motor will idle up, not down, because the spray acts as a little extra boost of fuel. I don't think carb cleaner is bad, but starting fluid is what I have used, and it just seems like the better choice.
