Default LTZ-250 or 300EX?

dont forget to check out the mojave(if you want a 4-stroke), its very underrated. its "sportier" than the z250(manual clutch, chain drive) and it will hang with the 300ex and responds very well to hop-ups.

With a few hundred dollars, the twin cammed, liquid cooled, better legged majave can blow away any 300 ex i know. the stock cams in that maojave are very mild, and the carb is hardly big enough to source the piston. As soon as you do the carb and cam, that thing will smoke a 350 warrior.

Agreed. I have two friends, one with a 300EX and one with a Mojave. Both are stock and the Mojave is definitely the faster quad on the track and the trails. With simple mods, the Mojave is quite the sleeper.

Default LTZ-250 or 300EX?

Just one question if anyone knows - Is there a way to change the gear ratio on the Z250? If so, I think it would be way better than the 300ex. I had a 300ex and to me, the z250 ran alot smoother and nicer than the 300ex, The 300ex is way to rough in trails and whoops. I ran the z250 thru whoops and had not a bit of problem with roughness compared to my 300ex. But I would just have to leave it up to your preference, I would suggest to you to go ride both and then make your suggestion. Thats my .02 worth.

It would be nearly impossible to change the gear ratios in the shaft LTZ

larger diamter tires would make it a little faster on the very top but they are heavier too which will suck up power so i wouldnt do that. i think thats all you can do to change the gears on a shaft drive.

Ive actually heard that the Z250 will outrun the 300EX. Hondas are great, reliable machines, theyre just not always the powerking, the CR125 is left behind in the pack, 400EX, reliable, but also slow. I dunno, I havnt riden either machines, so I dont have much room to talk here. Either way, its 80% rider, 20% quad.

LT80, the Z250 is an auto-clutch, manual shift quad.
