Default Questions About `89 LT250S

Quadlt250s:

The fenders are still available from Suzuki, last I checked. However, I am interested in this Raptor Fender thig as well! Mine are in OK shape, but have some stress cracks and will eventually need replacing...albeit most likely after they have run out of them.

If you just picked your up, congrats! Great trail quad. Not a hillclimber, but it does everything else well, and is attractive as stock. Couple things to look out for: Swingarm cracks, loose AArms. Other than that if it is stock, dont mess with it! If I could do it over again, I would probably have simply gotten a better cam, Mild-medium at most and then an exhaust, and removed the airbox lid. That's it. A little rejet to a 120-130 main(up from 110 stock) and you're set.

Default Questions About `89 LT250S

thankyou very much! yeah im in love, just picked up a new set of tires for it and loving every minute of it. i looked at the new plastic at a couple of places and two problems: 1. the price is outragous or 2. some of the parts have been discontinued. send some pics if you dont mind!!!!!

i was pleased, i got the quad because a couples kid went to college and it didnt run anymore, so i picked it up for $150. pretty sweet deal if you ask me.

if anyone has pics of this raptor conversion, id appreciate it.

DAMN!!! $150?! Thats a steal! Wow, bought mine new in 1989 for 2999. lol. Well, the plastic is gonna be pricey, watch ebay to get lucky, but that could take a year. You might have to sack up for some cost, or go the raptor route. Whatever you do, don't get rid of the "T" seat...it's killer when you're pitching the quad through a corner!

Tires....recommendations for next set are: STOCK Dunlops. Seriously, a great set of treads. The rears are the KT 865, I forget the fronts, but the KT331, and KT 335 are good ones. My alternative has been the Bandit 21-7-10 up front and the Mud Shark 21-12-10 for the rear. The Mudshark is heavy, but has great tread and life. Anyhow, my $0.02...the stock tires are really good for that quad.

PS: Exhaust is getting hard to find, and stock rots out after 10-15 yrs. If you can still find it, I bought the Cobra Aluminum Megaphone exhasut and a Sparky Spark arrestor. Seems to work well, fits OK(though you may nee a few thick shim washers between the silencer and the frame mount)and it has a nice bark to it. FYI.

One more FYI on discontinued parts: The LT250S shares alot of parts with the LT250R, and some with the LT500R of the 1988-1992 vintage. Brakes(master cylinders discs, calipers, pads) AArm bearings and seals, front hubs,(&front hub bearings) Steering stem collar, fuel petcock, Handlebar switches, gas cap all come to mind. Also, the oil filter is the same one as on the 1988-1990 LT300E QuadRunner, and probably many more. Anyhow, if you can't find it, see if it crosses over into these quad's part numbers too.

Default Questions About `89 LT250S

Excellent! Wow, you have done alot...I had my motor done by Curtis sparks about 4 yrs ago, only to let her sit for so much that she barely has 8 hours on the motor! Real screamer, have to run 110 octane min, and I can't wait to open it up....should keep up with the 400's. Anyhoo, I'd post pics, but mine is an intentional sleeper...looks brand stock. Stock fenders, decals, right down to the shift pattern sticker on the gas cap surround plastic! All original plastics and parts from the Minnesota purchase in 1989....except for the smaller rear sprocket, modified Moose LT250R swingarm skidplate , peg extenders, home-brew Kevlar/Carbon front skid....oh well, it's nearly stock-looking!

Cheers.
