The very first thing to do is get someone to pull start you. Its best not to do that a lot but sometimes they just cobweb up after sitting a long time and a pull start can save a ton of unneeded work.
If it has spark than the problem has nothing to do with a key or switch. What does the spark look like? It should be visible even in full daytime light and optimally you should be able to hear it snap when it sparks. Sometimes you can have a weak spark with the plug out of the cylinder but no spark in the cylinder because the weak spark fouls out very easy.
If it is a weak spark then try a different plug. If still weak you will have to check the coils, you will need a electrical meter and a manual for that. The manual will tell you how.
If it’s a good spark then you likely have a fuel problem. Kick it over 4 times good and hard with the throttle 1/4 open and the choke fully on. Pull the plug out and see if it’s wet. If not than your not getting fuel to the cylinder, which could be caused by plugged up fuel valve or line, trash/dried fuel in the carb, empty tank, broken reeds or (least likely but possible) bad crankcase seals. If it is wet then either you are choking it too much when trying to start it and flooding it which is easy to do or you have very low compression.
