2003 Vinson!
Hey Guys and gals..just picked up my new Yellow Vinson auto today! This thing is great!! i love it. The more i ride it the more i realized that i made the right choice I picked up a 2500lbs warn to go with it too, just haven't had a chance to put it on yet. Have 4.5 hours on it already...What hours/miles did you guys do your first service at? Anything i should check/look for when i service it? Its been great so far...so much fun. Will probably upgrade the tires in the near future. Thinking of 26" mudlites. Should i go with a 8" or a 10" wide in the front? I'll run a 12" wide in the back. Most likely will be on the factory rims. Also, on average, what are you getting for gas milealage with your vinsons? I also notice a lot of gear noises from the rear end. Is this normal on this model? and once and a while when i hit the gas....not real hard but moderately i hear a small clunk...or similar noise from the belt cover. What do you think? Thanks!

I would talk to your dealer on some of your questions. I got a 2003 auto. Vinson and the only noise I have is belt wine & a wooshing sound from the rear and I was told that sound was from the rear shocks. And not to worry about it. And the belt wine is normal. I got 600 miles on it. Put 64 miles on it and used a little over 3 gal. of gas. Sorry couldn't be of more help. ps. I like mine too.

According to the manual, after the first 100 miles. but I waited to do mine untill about 300. I also just did my first servce myself.
Change your oil yourself, that will save you some $$$. The main thing is to get your valve clearance checked and get all the chassis bolts tighted up.
Use your best judgement when it comes to strange noises on your machine.
If you're at a stop, and kind of tap the throttle your're belt takes a second to engage, maybe this is the noise you are hearing. or if you want to feel better about it, take the cover off and take a look for yourself and check it out.
Your milage will get better as you break it in. your engine will perk up a little as well. I have about 2000 miles on mine and nothing has given out yet.
From ITP website:
26-10-12
26-12-12
Those are the only sizes I know of, if you want an 8'' wide you have to get 25s.
Mudlites are a great tire overall. a buddy of mine has em' and he likes them alot.

Thanks guys, i apreciate the responces I also get the wooshing sound sometimes.I thougt thats what it may have been but i wasn't sure. I have belt wine. I forgot to ask...soemtimes i get a lot of gearnoise/moaning from the rear end. I did some searching and it seems that some others have that too. I have 9 hours now and no signs of problems. Still love it!! I haven't heard the small clunky type nose from the belt area again yea...seems to have only done it that time. I'll keep riding it and keep and eye on it. Oh, and one last question if ya don't mind. I get a clicky/clunky type noise from the rear suspension too sometimes...braking or if i go over a bump just right. I think this is the rear drive shaft or rear end backlash?? I'll definatly do all the service work myself. Actually i do Polaris atv/sled service work all the time..i work for a Polaris service center lol. I'm just not fully familiar with this machine yet, and whats normal for it. Thanks again for the responses and the help

Blueone- I put 26x12x12 Goodyear mud runners front and rear. I have the Suzuki accesory front & rear bumpers on mine. I have no problems except very minor tire rubbing on the front acc. bumper only in max turning. If you don't have those bumpers you will have plenty of clearance. They work great. I haven't check into K&N yet. But I have them in every thing I own except Vinson & yamaha- -car-truck-Honda- BMW-Artic Cat. I think I would put 9inch on the front instead of the 12's if I was doing it again.

Have 27" Mudlites on my wife's '03 Vinson. They are mounted on the stock rims. She has the accessory front, and rear, bumpers. The tires rub on the back bumper a little if you are going fast over whoops. I set the preload on the shocks stiffer and they don't rub quite so bad anymore. Haven't noticed any rubbing on the front. I can tell you that there was a noticeable loss of power w/ the 27" tires. Had EPI oversize tire clutch kit installed and it helped alot. Kit is expensive though at $200. Also, you have to "split the case" to install it. Don't ask me what they mean by splitting the case, a buddy installed it for me. I know that it took at least a couple of hours.
