my 88 lt500 rear shock is shot and i am wondering what a good reasonably priced replacement would be? also what weight of oil do you guys run in the tranny and how often do you change it?

If I were you, I would just rebuild the stock unit as it is a very quality piece. Try these guys, they do great shock work.

rebuild it, they are good shocks. I actually had mine rebuilt and even had canisters added to the front ones.

I am running 80 weight (bell), Changing depends on how often you ride, or at least it does for me
