You're right.... It is goofy...

Take the other brands and line them up with the stock gasket. Basically, the small coolant holes go to the exhaust side. The larger coolant holes go to the intake side.

FTZLT250r, that is a sweet looking LT you have there. What are you using for a filter?

But the different head gaskets wont hurt any thing right ? just create more pressure in the head right ?

Hey, does the 87-92 head gasket fit the 85/86. I didn't think so, but a guy on Ebay thinks they do. I figure that if the head gasket fits everything, then the heads shoud interchange as well. If they do interchange, it is a lot easier to get a Cool Head with no headstay for and 87 and later. I just dont think they interchange because the bore of 85/86 is 70mm and 87+ is 67mm. Just doesn't seem like the gasket would fit right.

the heads are totaly different dont try it the machine will blowup, the cc is different, if you want an 87 head with no head stay then ask for one, they make them with or without !

My question was.......Are the head gakets the same. I know the cc are different. 249cc for 85/86 and 246cc for 87+. THe head stay comment was that if the heads interchange, then it is easier to get cool heads for 87+ but get them without a headstay and use them on a 85/86. Anyways, like I said, I dont think they are the same. I want to here from others to varify that, so I can tell the guy on Ebay trying to sell a gasket that claims to fit all years, that it does not.

you are correct the bore size is dirrerent, i think the gasket will fit on but not work properly, becasue of the bore size the gasket has to be the perfect size for your machine, never heard of a universal gasket for all the years, ebay boy dont know what hes talking about, check his feedback and see if hes trustworthy !!

bigugly, I use an exposed Uni filter with some hose work/pipe involved. The intake on the reed cage was custom from FTZ to angle everything to that side of the shock.
