Default Big Bore Kits for LT250R?

I'm looking for a good big bore kit for my 85 Lt250r. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on them. I'm looking to go to a 265cc or somewhere around there. Also i was looking at getting a 38mm Keihen carb for it, wondering if anyone had any ideas on that too.

If you bore your quad .080 over it ends up being a little over 260cc. Over course, the reliability suffers a little. Also, I tried a mikuni carb from a quadzilla that was 38mm and the carb was physically to big. Also 38mm just seemed like too much carb. I also have my head ported and polished with reeds. I settled on a Kiehen 35pwk and it works great.(it also fits, but I had to put on a Boyeson super float bowl to get it to fit right.) I have a stock 34mm mikuni that is bored to 36mm, but I cant decide what I am going to do with it.
Unfortunately Suzuki didnt design the carb area very well, so not much fits in there nicely or easily.

Right now, i have my quad bored .080 over, but i'm not too kean on the reliability of it right now, do you have any places that you know of that have good engine kits for the quad, not necessarily big bore i guess, but good overall kits. i race this quad in motocross, and i'm having a tough time finding a company that makes much for the quad.

Trinity may have something or CT racing. I know they do LT250's, not sure of 85/86 though. Trinity is more likely to but they are pricy. Any pics of you quad. I see you have longer a-arms. I would like to get +2 arms, but they are hard to find.

joshfox21, if don't plan on doing anything too soon, i have a new 300cc jug for the 85/86 Qracers... only problem is i'm still waiting on my friend to dig it out of his sisters basement. I will be selling it when i get it.

And a 38mm keihen carb will fit on the Qracer... i have one on mine, made a world of difference. if you want pics of the carb installed let me know

Did you have that 38mm kiehen on an 87+ LT250 or an 85/86. Because they are very different.

I have it on my 87, yes it was a b*tch to fit, but with some 2-stroke oil and alot of force it popped in. I only reason i think it should fit a 85/86 is they used a 32mm instead of a 34mm but if i got it in mine i don't think 2mm is going to make a difference... (trust me the rubber will expand enough its just real darn hard to get it in)

If you want a pic to see what i'm talking about PM me (let me know how big you want the pic i.e. MB's, my digital cam takes some high res pics) you can actually see the carb bulge out the boot.

OK, see we are dealing with apples and oranges. The 87+ have a reed cage and the motor is designed differently. The carb has a lot more room to physically fit on the motor. on the 85/86, if the carb is too large, then the float bowl hits the engine case and gets cocked at an angle. So only a couple carbs will fit.

I understand what you are saying, you tried it with a mikuni 38mm, the keihen 38PJ has the same amount of clearence as my 34mm mikuni when installed... so the 38mm PJ MAY fit.... if you could give me a measurement from the bottom of the float bowl to the top of the engine cases i can find out for sure. I know the mikuni 38mm has a deeper bowl, the 38mm pj has a wider bowl rather then deeper.

You could be right, but i'll check if you think its worth it and want to give me measurements.

I should have stated this in my previous post, thanks for pointing it out.
