Default Question for Halfliter, or anyone who knows welding?

Hello Halfliter, I am about to reinforce the mounting tabs on my LT500 cylinder. You've done a bit of welding on your cylinder so I'm hoping you see this. Do you know what filler rod to use or what the casting, is made of?

Thanks,
Tom

Good thing you bumped this. I don't know how I missed it. I used 4043 rod. The reason is because that is what is easiest to plate. For welding those tabs I think you could use anything. As for the cylinder material, I don't know what it is but it is super soft. Excellent for welding but hard to port and eats away fast for plating. Hope this helps.

Thanks, the welder has three that he was considering and wanted to know what others are using so there would be no problems. He has 4043, 5356, and I am not sure this is correct but, rockmount neptune rod. Unless one of the others is a better choice I will have him use the 4043.

Thanks Again,
Tom
