87 lt500 carb question
Get a 38 or 39 Keihin pwk. You will love it. Mikunis arent bad but mine always would drip gas when sitting, so I would always have to turn the gas off and run my quad a bit to empty the float bowl. My stock carb from my 86 LT250 wasnt that bad, tbut the Zilla carb I put on leaked a ton, then I got a Keihin and have had no problems.

87 lt500 carb question
i have noticed mine is always dripping. i just figured needle worn, gas not shut off properly, etc....
so a 88 or up is the btter choice? prolly cheaper too, i suppose. is the flat slide a good carb. or round slide better? i have always heard the flat slide, so when i seen my 500 had one, i was impressed.
thanks guys

NOTHING will kill an LT500 motor quicker than running it lean other than running it with s--t gas or too small of a stinger.
You need to change ALL the jetting, (needle, needle jet, pilot, main) drill out a plug and machine the slide in order to convert an 87 carb over.
A lot of work and $$ when you can get an 88-up carb cheap on Flea Bay.
PLEASE don't learn the "hard way" w/ another "nuked" motor caused by a POS carb.
