Default Damaged Brake rotor holder

Hi All

Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on something for me...

I was out riding last weekend and ripped the plastic swingarm skid plate right off. The dealer is telling me that the "brake rotor holder" is way out of spec and the rotor is slightly bent. and that the only way to 100% fix it is to replace the axle because you can not purchase the "brake rotor holder" separately.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

first of all, try to get a couple more opinions on your damage.
then you have 2 choices.
1. get a manual and tear it down and have a reputable shop straighten/fix the part. (long slow tedious yet rewarding)
2. let the dealer have his way with you.

all parts are available seperately one way or another. you don't have to buy an axle just to get a brake rotor holder because it 'might' be bent. that's bullsh!t.

If he is referring to the part that is on the axle that the brake rotor bolts to than yes he is correct. From what I know it cannot be removed and replaced, it is sold with the axle all together as one part. I know there are a few stock axles on Ebay for alot cheaper than what a dealer will charge, just make sure it's in perfect condition before you buy it, there's also a good brake rotor from Magic racing for a good price. Good luck...........

Anybody else know something different or better?

Don't know much about Suzuki's, but if the rotor mount is part of the axle, a good reputable machine shop should be able to chuck the axle in a lathe and turn the rotor mount faces (contact points between the mount and the actual rotor) and true it up. Worst case scenario, they can tell you how far out of true it is and if they would feel comfortable trueing it back up.

Good luck.
