Screwing it in clockwise should make it idle up. I highly doubt that is you problem. I don't think you washed it and the **** got turned. I'd assume you got water into a connector. I'd pull them and spray them with some WD-40, then let them dry. To keep it from happening in the future, I'd get some dielectric grease, and use it in all of the connectors, and the plug boot.

I agree, it's not your idle adjustment. Sounds like you might have flooded the spark plug, might have some mud or something in the drain port. Remove the spark plug boot, and on the left side of the engine there's a small drain port, spray some brake cleaner or other type of electrical cleaner up the drain port and then some compressed air. let it dry out, reinstall the boot and you should be fine. I've had that happen to my Z before and it boggled me a little bit until I figured out this was the problem. I couldn't believe mud and water could last inside that spark plug depression with the heat of the engine, but you'd be very surprised how much water I got out of there after riding the bike and letting it sit for almost a week!!

This might sound dumb, but you may want to make sure you have gas. The tanks on the Z's make it look like there is allot more gas than there actually is when you look inside the tank. Might be worth checking out before you start taking things apart.
