Default Thinking About Getting a LT250R

I'm starting to think that he have been fooled by the previous owner. He's only 16 years old like me so maybe the other guy told him all LT are 5 speed. He told me that the 250 had 500 tranny so.......

That's about it. Can I see if the 6Th is jammed, so I would tell him I was right. If it's only as if the gear never existed, it will be hard to make it understand.

I even shown him the tranny diagram and he told me it could be an option

Sounds to me like you have already made up your mind that you are going to buy it. That is the worst attitude to have when wheeling and dealing but you are young and experience is the best teacher. I remember getting super excited about buying "new to me" machines too when I was 15. Like was said, $500 would be a fair price as long as everything else is there. If you need fenders, tires, shocks, tranny rebuild, top end, brakes, seat cover, etc etc it is going to add up quickly and you need to determine whether the quad is worth fixing up or not. That can be difficult to determine, since to you the quad may look awesome, but to the well trained eye, it is nothing but a basket case and should be used as a parts quad.

Take a digi camera with you and take some pics and post them. Don't buy it that afternoon. Let everyone here take a look and that will give you a night to sleep on it. Since you mentioned the owner was only 16, then automatically I've got to assume he can't find his @ss with both hands. That is the first I've ever heard of the 250 & 500 sharing trannys LOL.

Anyway I don't have the cash right now. I could try to borrow a digital camera.

Is there anyway that could have happened to have a 5 speed non-broken powervalved quadracer or is it just plain impossible and stupid?

The guy is really holding on his idea

Fortunably, he's not too far away from me. Supposed to go see it tomorrow.

I let you know

There really isnt alot of 2 strokes being used by any GNCC racer anymore, everyone has either a z400/kfx400 or any yfz450...I'd say to buy a z400 or kfx400, they are fast yet better then any 2 stroke in wet conditions..

yea because if he is looking for somthing in the 500 dollar range he is definatly gonna get that for 4 or 5 grand at least. Im choking on ignorance I really wish i was as cool as you. they have a weak math program in Ohio the snowrider? And secondly he could spend 2 grand and spank you silly with a quad you just paid 6 for so thats why he is buying a 2 stroke. GNCC isnt on all 2strokes cause they dont make them anymore. Im sure its easier to work on brand new quads then older ones and parts are more redilly available for them. Its a sad day in GNCC when they stop riding two strokes. They had to make a production class just to weaken their stronghold.

Well, after all these posts and questions, what's the verdict? Did you get a chance to look at it?

No the guy was not there. I'm not sure if I want that anymore. I Think it's gonna be a 500 or nothing (suzuki)

I don't know, my dream quad is and will always be the TRX250R so.......

It's gonna be LT500R or TRX250R

unless I get a good deal on a 250

I just don't like the fact that everybody on the forum said this guy was stupid, as he problably was. I don't think I should waste gas to see the first 5 speed powervalved quadracer 250
