Clicking noise in rear of King Quad??
#1
While loading my KQ last night to ride after work today I noticed a clicking noise in the rear of the bike. It seems to only click when starting out, it does it in both forward and reverse. Not sure exactly where it's coming from but it sounds like it's the right rear wheel area. Could this be some kind of brake wear indicator (ie, the adjuster can't adjuster out anymore)or brake problem? Could it be an axle or CV problem? TIA

Sounds like CV/U joints. Don't know what it is. We sold ours when the noise first developed. Ours had the noise when alternating between coasting and applying the throttle. Perhaps this is the initial stage of the noise that you have begun to notice.

I emailed you earlier before I got username and password established.
Did some editing in meantime.
I had the same clicking noise coming from my 2000 King Quad after 112 miles (had it for 3 weeks now). I took it in for it's initial service (the critical and expensive one) last week.
After getting it home I notice a clicking sound coming from the rear when slowly backing up or going forward. I didn't see anything obvious, so I figured I should take it back to the dealer while it's covered under warranty and free.
Of course, they looked it over and couldn't find anything wrong.
After getting it back home, I decided to look it over myself. Taking the bull by the horns so to speak...After jacking up the rear of the Quad, I ran it in gear and heard the same noise coming from the right wheel. So I took off the right rear wheel, and just before I dived in and unbolted the cover to the brake assembly, I picked up the tire and bounced it a few times. Guess what? Clicking noises.
I discovered that there's something in the wheel itself that is clicking.
I thought it over and decided that it was either a stone that worked itself in there or (I had a flat in that tire a couple weeks ago during the first 100 miles)or it must be some kind of punch-out associated with the manufacturing of the wheel that got left in there.
I haven't taken the tire off the rim to see what it is yet. But I'm not in a hurry, I don't think it will hurt anything. It does sound pretty metallic and sinister bouncing around in that tire.
I felt relieved that it was something bouncing around in the tire rather than a bearing or something worst!
Hope you find the same cause!

First off, thanks for the replies....
The clicking is there whether I apply front or rear brakes, and I just had my AT 589's put on Tuesday so it's not in the tire. Tonight I'm gonna tear it down and do some looking, it has a 1000 miles on it and is probably due for brakes regardless and that's gonna be $80 just for the shoes <Whew>.
It seems to happen only when I start from a dead stop, I never notice it any other time.

Not shure if this will help my friend had a clicking sound coming from the rear end but like you say was not always there the problem we found was a small crack in the wheel rim he repaird it and never herd the sound again the atv had a lot of miles on it
