Valve adj. for Vinson?
I have a 2003 Vinson 5 speed with about 500 miles on it. How tough/easy is it to do the valve adj. oneself rather than take it to the dealer? Right amount of miles for the adj.? Thanks for any input.
Like the bike. Have been reading about the mods people are doing. Have a K&N Filter w/ Outerwear. Think I might like a pipe this summer. Need more!! But would like to keep it somewhat quiet. Any suggestions? How much does elevation figure in for jetting? Ride at 4000-6500 feet. Alot for our snowmobiles, but not familiar with the wheelers.

Sorry, gentleman. I'm obviously a little jumpy sometimes. This would be the initial valve adjustment that the factory recommends. Maybe it's not needed?
Just wondering if jetting these 4 strokes is generally like 2 strokes-leaner at higher altitudes. It does backfire when I let off the loud handle. Thanks.

Backfiring on letoff is a symtom of lean running. Keep an eye on spark plugs for proper color, that will let you know if youre running lean or rich. Ask your dealer what he would recommend for jetting.
Usually the first check, on the valves, is just that. They check to make sure it was done right, and that its to spec. You could do this yourself, at least the checking part. If it needs to be adjusted, then you could decide if you want to do it yourself or hire someone,
