Default Another paddle tire thread

Whats the difference between 8" and 10" diameter paddles. I have always ran 20-11-10 haulers on my quad, I decided to replace the worn out pair with a set of 21-11-10 Sand Skate II's to try somthing different. I have heard alot of people say to run 22-11-8's whats the difference? is it that you can air down yhe 8's so you end up with a bigger foot print? If I am not happy with the skates Im gunna get a set of 22-11-8 haulers. Any insight or 2 cents would be appreciated.

the 8" is the rim size, you will need to replace your rims.

I know the difference between the diameter of the tires, whats better to run, a 20-11-10 9 paddle hauler or a 22-11-8 9 paddle hauler. which would you choose and why besides cost.

a wider tire = more surface area on the ground, gettin more traction, thus propelling the atv foward. i would go with the 22x11x8, bigger footprint and a smoother ride, but how much smoother could you want you're on sand

If you lower the air presure in the 8's you will have more tire on the ground but if you jump with haulers you will trash the tires and end up replacing them way more often. I went though 3 sets before I finally got 10s and haven't had a problem since. Another thing to consider is that you may not have the pony's to turn your tires when you lower the air presure. You may feel you do but when you race someone you may be a little slower. A good rule of thumb is to check your roost it should only be about 6" tall. I know we all like to throw alot of sand around but if you roost is taller than 6" to 8" your digging down not moving forward. Sand skates II should be run at 5 to 6 psi to run properly but can run with less because they are a molded tire. I wouldn't run haulers with any less than 5 psi and perferably 6 psi because of the fact that they are nothing but used golf cart tires that have been shaved down and had paddles glued on them. Also in tight turns the tires will give and feel mushy. Don't listen to your friends! Call a tire dealer and ask them! I'll take 10's over 8's any day.

More tire on the ground does not mean your propelling more! All it means is that you have more tire on the ground. You still have to have the pony's to turn it. Tiresa don't make you go faster unless they are in sink with your gearing and motor. For instance running 10 paddle haulers on a honda 110. More tire on the ground. Faster NO!
