I dont have any number for speed other than a guess and another question. My 500 seems to be geared very tall, before I put my pipe on it, in top gear it wouldnt pull all the way through to hi-rpm....seemed like my gear is too high. Now that I have a pipe and porting and FMF ram valve on a fresh motor, it pulls top gear until it seems like the motor is overrevving, which by that time I can hardly hold my helmet upright. Any 500R owners, does yours seem to be geared similarly? I love the speed, but it seems to push the limits of any 4 wheeler chasis.

I would guess around to 80 mph

Years ago, about 1989 or 1990, Dirtwheels magazine tested the top speeds of all the hi-per quads. If I remember correctly, the top speed of Quadzilla was 78 or 79mph. The Banshee was 1mph slower and the 250's were all around 71 to 72 mph. I don't have any first hand knowledge, I'm just going by a faulty memory. Either way, that's flying.

Does anyone else have any other estimates for top speed for this old topic? Humor me.

Does your LT500 have a pipe and K&N on it yet? Even with that little upgrade, thats when the top speed takes a violent turn for airplane mode. Believe me, I have never said to myself "I wish this thing was faster" I was thinking of lowering my gear for more takeoff, but I can hardly keep the front end down in 1st and 2nd (with good traction) so I'll just leave it alone. I think this machine is close to 90mph with mods.

I don't think 85 to 90 is out of the question with basic bolt ons and regular gearing. I still havn't got that radar gun to find out.

How about old faithful follow behind in a car and hope the atv rider doesnt crash senerio. I would do it, but its winter here and theres to much snow. Whatever the top speed be 90 or 110 a banshee owner will say his stock banshee is much much faster because they "just rule".
Sorry, a little shook up by all these loud banshee owners in another topic.
