Proper kick-starting technique on a zilla?
I feel its a must to prime my big bore to start it, this is what Works for me.
Make sure ignition is in OFF position
Dont touch the Throttle
Choke it
Kick it over a few times, then bring it to the compression stroke
Turn ON ignition & kick.
If it doesnt start first or second kick start over.
Dont gas it when your kicking it with the ignition OFF. My Zilla will flood real easy if I gas
it before its running. I un-choke almost as soon as its running and feather the trottle to
keep it running till its warmed up. Make sure you warm it up good B4 raggin it.
You dont need to look like a drunk kicking over a Pan Head to get it running. My left foot
never leaves the peg! Try not to ride the kicker down to the stop on the peg, if it kicks,
you are in for a thrill. I only take half kicks to fire it up. Works for me.
As for Klotz, some people like it. I dont, I stuck a ring and chattered a bore on it. Switched
to Amsoil and havent looked back.
32:1 on 110 octane is what I run, never fouled a plug.
Good Luck

If its THAT cold out your pilot circuit may just be too lean, and its just refusing to start. Also if has been sitting for a good amount of time(it would have to be a whhiiilllee though) your gas could be bad. Also you could possibly have water in your float bowl. Like Gary Said drain out the float bowl clean up the jets good (may have to use a small needle or torch tip cleaner), especially your pilot jet. If your jets are clogged it will definately hinder your starting ability.
