Default Proper kick-starting technique on a zilla?

I have never owned a kick-starter before, so is there any handy hints ya'll could throw my way? The only way I have gotten it to start is pulling it. I think the jetting is off.

it has a higher compression motor which sometimes is harder that others. put all your weight on your kicking leg an kick down which all your power!

On a PWK, where is the air mixture screw located? Is it on the slide?

So you turn the engine over a few times slowly, then get it to where the piston is near TDC(hard to kick), then hammer down? Hmm, I will try that.

No luck kicking so we tried pulling. No luck at all pulling so I checked the spark, which looks good. I am thinking the gas/oil separated or something. Something keeps gunking the carb. I will spray that bizatch out with carb cleaner tomorrow.

after you get to TDC jump up with your left foot and come down with all your body weight on your right foot so you have your whole body's force and your leg strenth coming down on it.

1. Step on to bike.
2. Right foot onto kick-starter.
3. Keep your body centered over the bike.
4. Ease motor over a couple of times, slow.
5. A little gas with the throttle.
6. Ready? Rotate kickstarter to horizontal position until you feel pressure(on cylinder).
7. At the horizontal, kick the kick-starter to a position just under the foot-peg( nerf-bars make this hard) utilizing your body-weight.

*tip* I find that if the body plastic is interfering with the kick, you are kicking from too high a position.
Kicking in a seated position is only for the experienced(if even they can).
The straighter your leg at the attempt the more force you can apply.

These are just my observations. If your Zilla cannot be pull started by another machine, you need to address problems in the spark, gas, air area.

Hmm... I guess that's a little different than kick starting high compression 4 strokes. I've always started them by getting the motor just past the compression stroke. (stand on the kick start untill it gets just passed the compression stroke) and give it a good kick. On any high compression 4 stroke that I was experianced with, if you tried giving it a good kick ON the compression stroke you'll end up flying over the bars or breaking your leg! I guess it's just different on a 2 stroke motor huh?
