Meassureing chain slack How to do it with swingarm skid plate in place?

Meassureing chain slack How to do it with swingarm skid plate in place?
The manual wants you to meassure the chain slack on the bottom, but the skid plate does not allow this, Am I suppose to take it off everytime or is there a better way? thanks
