Default Z 400 what is the Correct Way To Check The Oil Level? The Manual

Do I screw the stick in and then check it? or do i take it out wipe it off and then stick it in with out screwing it in? Also should i start it and let it run for a few minutes? then let it sit for a few and check it? my quad has not been run for a few weeks now. Thanks a lot

Just wipe it off and then don't screw it in just sit it in the hole, and yes, I would let it idle for a few minutes, then let it sit for a few minutes, that is what it says in the manual.

Definitely warm the engine up first! Oil will drain into the crank case when the bike sits for a while, and it will give you a bogus (low) reading. Like he said, don't screw the plug in, just dip it.
