Default 89 LT 250R CARB QUESTION

I've got a question for someone with the right answer.
I've got a Keihin 38mm carb that was was on the quad when I got it,the cylinder was replaced
with a stock new one,the old one was bored 80 over ported and polished, now my question can someone give me the stock jets #s that came in this carb? It idles fine but as soon as I get on it,it bogs right out starts right up and will do the same again. It was jetted for this 80 over cylinder but is too much for the stock one.
I'm just looking for someone to make my guess work a hell of alot easier.THANKS GUYS!!!!!!!!!!

Default 89 LT 250R CARB QUESTION

We cant give you the stock jet numbers, because the 38mm keihin was not the stock carb for it. The stock carb was a mikuni 34mm with probably a 220 main jet. Remember Keihin and Mikuni use different jets. You will have to just try different jets until you get it right.

Default 89 LT 250R CARB QUESTION

My 91 came with a 270 main jet from Suzuki. Also remember that a Keihin has a totally different numbering system than a mikuni. What a 270 would be in mikuni might only be a 155 or 160 in Keihin. I would have a 35 pilot and a 162 main jet with the needle clip one up from the bottom to start with. But that is if you arent too high up in altitude. Drop the main down a size if your over 2000 feet. That's my opinion and best guess for it.Bubba

Default 89 LT 250R CARB QUESTION

Don't drop any sizes on the main jet. I have a 1992 Lt with a 36mm PJ carb. V-force reeds, cool head, fmf fatty and silencer. It's bored .40 over. When I got the quad it had a 185 main jet (stock Keihin jetting. It smoked a lot and I mean a lot when it was cold. Once it warmed up though the smoke dissapeared to the point where the motor seemed to b e running lean. After I blew a piston (melted it actually) and after expecting the plug i realized that it was infact running very lean. I increased the jet to a 200 and got about 20 hours out of the piston before it blew. The plug still looked kind of dry and ashy though (lean). To be extra safe i have installeda super cooler and have maxed out the jetting to 230 and have placed the needle on the richest position. The bike runs a little too rich but it keeps my motor from blowing so far and the plug seems to be a nice oily black like the ones on my blaster and rm dirtbikes that have lasted for years without a rebuild.

(I run 20:1 to be extra safe)
