engine paint removal
#1
I'm going to be stripping the paint off my cylinder and side covers. Does paint remover work ok on this stuff or am I stuck sanding it all off? Also, any polishing tips you guys have would be helpful.

I used a paint stripper and it worked good, just watch your skin and plastic and rubber part's,polishing, wow alot of work.I used a dremel, bech grinder with polishing wheel's,and a car buffer/polisher with a wool pad and a veriable speed drill with polishing wheel's.Sanding suck's but it has to be done to knock down the casting bump's on the jug,so you'll need sand paper.Polishing compound's are needed too,Black Emery compound for the rough stuff/heavy removal of scratches and imperfection's in the alum,Red Rouge for minor scratche's/imperfection's and White Rouge for your final Shine.Don't mix the compound's cuz they have different abrasive's in them, use seperate pad's and don't cake the compound on the pad,let the machine do the work and work the compound's in.Wear a dust mask cuz it's messy(black dust) don't want to breathe it.To keep your stuff shinny when done use Mother's alum.polish and an old sock or an old towel.Hope I helpep ya out.Good luck and take your time,Don't rush perfection, remember Bling,Bling

I used gasket remover to take the paint off of an LT250R jug I had laying around. worked pretty good. Got the job done.

I stripped all the paint off of my frame and engine with paint remover in a spray can from the auto parts. Spray in on wait ten minutes blast it off with a pressure washer. very easy to do that way.
