Default carb question on lt250r

well a new pick up coil would also be good, plus getting it rewound would also help...but why not just buy it a high output stator ricky stator for 125 bucks and completly rid of the problem?if i had the money it would be the first thing id buy!!

evhwg, I had the same problem on one of my old TRX250R's - it turned out to be the stator had a few frayed windings. If you have a Clymer manual it should tell you how to check out the entire electrical system with an ohm meter. That's the only way I had found my problem. An electrical problem like that can drive you insane! It's best to get a manual that gives you all the information that you're gonna need for something like this before you just go replacing parts!
Did you take your side cover off and look at the stator yet? - Good luck and let us know how it turns out!

A shop manual is $15 bucks and you can get an ohmmeter at autozone for $10. Testing your electrical system will take you 10 minutes and you'll know for sure what is wrong.

yeah i have a shop manual and OHM meter. but what do you set the OHM meter to X10 or leave it on standard? i consider myself mechanically inclined but this electrical probrlem is driving me nuts.
i am going to bring it to my freiends to use an inpact wrench to get the magneto off. the dam thing wont budge with a socket.

Default carb question on lt250r

When you say hard to start cold, how hard? because my Lt never really wants to start cold but you just keep kickin she'll come around. It almost always takes 5-10 kicks on a cold morning, and after that it's just 1. Do you guys know what the compression should be on a Lt?
Thanks

Default carb question on lt250r

mine starts easy...2nd kick usually, but when im warming it up, it will bog down and foul the plug. I usually have to clean the plug 2 or 3 times to get the thing to warm up. After its warm, it starts easy, usually first kick, and doesnt foul it. I just bought a new plug, and it warmed up fine. But after i get a couple rides on it, It will foul during warm up...any clue? i guess my problem is a little different...im goin to do the stator check this weekend. Hopefully it comes out bad, so i can finally find the problem.
