LT230 Smoking

Default LT230 Smoking

I have a Lt230 and it is smoking bad very bad!! What should I do? It sound like the rings to me but idunno.. It is burning oil Alot of oil.. I was riding all day and stop for the day and the next day I look at the oil level and it was very low, it use 1 and 1/4 of a Quart of oil. But I started it up today and it is smoking bad.. But the thing I do not get is it did not smoke when I was riding for a long time but it use all that oil.. thanks

It was burning oil but you didn't see it behind you. You need a set of rings. You may need a new piston and bore job but you may get lucky and the rings will do the job. the only way to know is take it apart. It sounds like you may be catching it in time. Good luck!

ok I hope that is it. Yea it was not smoking when it was low on oil. Idunno I do not get it. the enigne cool down and I started it up and it smoke bad.. thanks

Yep, she heats up, expands then cools down and smokes. Fix it now and it may only need rings.

The valve seals on the 230's has been known to fail prematurely also, so don't count that out if the rings check out ok. While I had it apart I'd prob. get the valves done, and re-ring it just because you have it opened up.
