Default Eigar valve setting procedure

Hello,

New to the forum. Can anyone tell me the valve clearance setting required for the Eigar, and the procedure used to complete this.

Thanks,

Yes, step one is learn to spell Eiger! Now write it 10 times correctly.

Now call a zuki dealer and order a service manual. Don't worry about it being a 03 manual, jusy get it. It has very valuable info in it. Get an inline fuel filter RIGHT AWAY!!! Less than $4 and 5 min to install.

Tear off the plastics and the gas tank and remove the caps on the valves. Get a feeler guage and check to see if you have .002 - .004 intake, and .007 - .009in ex.

BTW, welcome to the forum!!

EigER2

eiger,eiger,eiger,eiger,eiger,eiger,eiger,eiger,ei ger,eiger.

What can I say, late night !!

Thanks for the info on the valve specs. I will get a manual as soon as I get a chance to go to the city. I don't receive my eiger until Thursday via truck freight. Will install fuel filter first before heading out with the EIGER.

Cheers,

Don't do like I did. I set mine in my Vinson yesterday. It was TDC but not on the compression stroke. I put all of the plastic on and fired it up. No power and the valves sounded awful. I found out what went wrong and fixed it today. Good as new.

He was at the wrong tdc( top dead center). The piston comes up to the top, twice per cycle. You set the valves at the top of the compression cycle, not he other one(top of exhaust stroke). If you have the timing mark lined up, AND can wiggle the rockers, then youre at the top of compression stroke(both valves shut).
I found this article on valve adjusting, its not on an eiger but close enough you give you an idea what its about.valve adjusting

I have 1000+ miles now and haven't had to adjust them yet! Finally got a service manual, always a great investment.

Truck freight to BC? Man, what are you going to do bout parts?? You better get a service manual! They are really easy to work on once you get over the fear of breaking er.

The handle on the shifter has small screws so be careful with em, the tank pulls out of the front plastics with a lil pull. Its easier if you remove the shifter (you have to anyway to get to the vavles).

I was in a hurry the first time I adjusted them and didn't pay any attention to which stroke it was on. When I put er back together and went to load er up she clanged like crazy. being In a hurry cost me an hour of time.

Thanks hondabuster for explaining my problem. Yeah, I did the same thing eiger2. I adjusted them the 2nd time in about an hour and a half. I had all of the tools in one place instead of looking for them like I did on the first try. I can tell the difference in the power before and after.
