The idle screw is on the left side of the bike, when your sitting on it. Its on the back left of the carb. You should probably be able to turn it with your fingures. If that doesnt work, try a new jet. There like $5.00 at your local shop. You should probably try between a 220-240 jet. You might also need new reeds which are only like $30.00 from Boyseen.

Default Do LT250R idle?????

I had a simular problem. On my 86 lt250r, i still have the original 35mm Mikuni. There should be a hole that has a screw with a silver/brass spring. But, in your case, on the left side of the carb if your facing to the front of the quad, there is a whole close to the top, there probably isn't a screw twith the spring there, but that hole is what controls your idle. My problem was my screw wouldn't stay in so i had to stretch out the spring. If you can't find a good fitting screw and a spring to fit into the whole, you'll have to go to your Suzuki dealer and order one if they still make it/ I'm pretty sure they still do cause a month ago i was going to order one from suzuki. I never ordered it so i don't know how much it is going to cost
Good Luck!

if it idles high and the idle screw doesn't seem to work then your throttle cable might need adjusted. Might not let the slide return to closed due to tension on the cable. If you rev it and stays reved for a little bit before returning to idle I'll bet its the cable. Adjust it in at the thumb throttle a few turns an see how it goes.

The pilot jet, Idle and air screws contol Idle to 1/8th throttle. Rebuild the carb and jet it (How to jet http://www.ohv.8m.com/). Also check the crank seal under the fly wheel.

I would check the small pilot jet maybe clogged up with dirt. Also if it revs real high you may have bead crankseals.

My 91LT doesnt idle to great but I've not put any effort into changing that. My 86LT would sit there and put, put, put all day long. Whoever suggested the cable adjustment is very likely right in your case. I don't even use the carb adjustment on mine becuse it's easier to do it at the throttle. I turn mine up a little when its cold then back down after its good and warmed up and will idle lower without dying.
