Default Z400 Battery help

No conventional use battery is better than the Yuasa that came with it stock.

There are others out there that are cheaper............but the term "cheaper" also applies to it's quality.

Yuasa makes a good battery. If you can spend$100+ their sealed battery will last about 4 years.
If the numbers cross, the Walmart ones or fine but they will only last 1~2 years. I use them in my street bikes. I just chuck'em every two years.

I hope the life expectancy of the stock battery last longer than a year.Maybe your battery was just drained to much from leaving lights on etc. and not haveing enough distiled water.

Default Z400 Battery help

Mine went bad cuz I left the lights on, wouldnt even run the neutral lihgt, took it out, put distilled water in it(Cleaned around the holes first so it dont get contaminated with debris) placed it on a trickle charger for 2 days and it was back to new. That was over 9 months ago.

Be carefull not to over fill the battery. The battery drain is located just above the swing arm and if it drips on your swingarm it will look bad, believe me, thats what mine looks like..... I then placed a plastic line that trails down my frame and opens just under the foot peg.

Hey Code54, just a suggestion but in the winter when you aren't riding the quad put your new battery in your house on some wood, it keeps the cold from draining the battery. I was told that this winter and it worked great for me. Hope I could help you out.

Default Z400 Battery help

Good point Toybox! I will do that in the future (may even keep it in the mudroom where it is warm - did by aa trickle charger recently)
Something went a little weird with my bike (seems that it suddenly became VERY rich) so I think I killed it then trying to get the bike to start out in the field. Since then I was never able to have the battery to keep a charge. I wont mind getting a "good" battery but where is best to get it. I cheked on the cheap ones at Wal-Mart but they did not seem to have the correct size. The other little problem is my G/F tried to help and took the battery in to the shop and got me a different one. Very sweet of her except it did not fit and when she got the new one she turn the org. in for the core and I don't have the #'s off of it. Anyone know them by any chance??
Thanks for the all the help!!!
Scott
