Default tuning a carb on z400-2004

Guys, I found alot of posts on how to re-jet a z400 - and some pictures that show all the important pieces. Anyway, I just recently purchased a WB E2 slip-on for my Z400 - and the WB installation said -- replace the Main jet with the enclose 165 jet - and move the air mixt screw 1/4 turn - richer - so i took that recommendation -but after looking and searching all over - i found out that the carb on this 04 model seems to be different than the 03 -- There is no screw to adjust air/fuel mixture - in its place is a brass cover with nothing... ??

so - i ended up putting a 147 - because it was choking with the 165 - and i couldnt adjust the air flow - why is that ???? How am I suppose to adjust the air flow - especially when you change the pipe - if the carb doesnt have an adjustment..

anyone find this prob. Anyone out there with an 04 model - that has recently re-jetted the bike - please let me know how I can fix this. Id like to put the 160 jet back on and adjust it around that.

Question1 --- what is your pipe/jetting size/ air adjustments that you made.
Question2 --- anyone with 04 model adjust the airflow ??? if so - please let me know how.

Im lost.

THANKS EVERYONE.

Does that cover just pop off and no damage?

The easiest way to remove it is drill a small hole in it.. if that does't get it out, then put a screw into the hole and it will come out pretty easy.

Just make sure you're drilling the correct brass plug, because there are two that look similar under there.

WB R-4. No lid or snorkle. Noss intake. 165 main. Nothing else changed.

A 165 main may be a bit ritch depending on you elevaton. You did remove the lid after installing the 165 right?
