clutch question!

ok, i gotta 87 230 quadsport bada$$. but lately when i am riding the rpms will be steady and increasing when pushing in the throttle (like normal) then all of a sudden and kinda stops and goes slower and the rpms shootup in the air, is this my clutch? or throttle?
what do i need to buy?

I'm not sure I understand you. Did you just buy this machine from someone or is it something you've had all along and this problem just arrived? Does the problem come and go or is it always there and does it happen in any particular gear? If you can be a little more specific, some one out there will probablly know your problem.

Sounds like either the clutch is slipping (or you've found the "extra neutral" in the gearbox).

First, I'd check the clutch for proper engagement adjustment (I assume you have a service manual).

If you can't adjust out this problem, pull the case and check clutch discs and springs. Does your ATV have a manual or automatic clutch? If automatic, you need to check out the primary (centrifugal) clutch also. Good luck!

No his quad has a manual clutch.

sounds like you need a new clutch to me .
or it could be out of adjustment!!
