I think if you replace boot and grease it real good it should be ok, it will atleast quiet the clicking down. Ride it till it breaks!!!!

 

my vinsons click, i think the lift kit is to blame, but i dont ever have a "problem" i can live with the clicks, even tho i have gone through 3-4 cv boots.

 

The joints are about $100 each with a discount, probably more at a dealer. The boots run 24 or 32 (inner ot outer) and the whole shaft is about $300. I'd get some grease in there ASAP!!

I just replaced a boot on my rancher. Decent size job but not to bad. Friggin $30 each at the dealer. Bike Bandit has them for $19. BTW regarding Bike Bandit, they can be a good resource but always check the dealer price. I also just replaced a rancher rim, $47.50 plus $6 shipping at BB, 51.79 at my local honda plus 8.25% tax. In this case just as well to get it locally. I could have had it faster (BB had to order) by buying it locally and the price was about the same.

OK THAT'S IT!

4X4 broke today, back in the bush, was clicking and then just stopped when I was turning around. That's it, 4X4 is dead! Luckily I wasn't alone and my buddies Scambler 4X4 pulled me out up the icey hills. So do any of you guys have a idea of what is broken and how much it is going to cost to fix?

You really need to keep an eye on those boots, I put aluminum guards on mine.

 

A friend of mine had the 4x4 on his 2000 Polaris Scrambler break. He just took it to a local mechanic and had it fixed for $40CDN (which is a good deal obviously!!!) Do you think that I could just get mine welded like he did?

 

I broke a cv joint on my 03 manual and upon checking with my dealer found that suzuki dose not sell just the outer joint. You can purchase the inner joint seperate but the only way to get the outer is to buy the complete shaft assy. Forget what i payed but even with my discount it wasnt cheap!!!!! Watch those boots guys!!!!
