Eiger - Fuel Usage (average)
#1
Just started to ride my new Eiger and would like to hear from other owners on how long I can go on a tank of fuel. Also how far on reserve. I just don't want to learn this the hard way while in the bush. I went out yesterday and took it very easy as I am breaking in the machine and put on 20 miles and used about half a tank. This ride included some climbing, trails and road cruising, (about 3 hours of running). Is this about normal?

I just rode my Eiger, 2004, manual trans at the dunes in oregon this weekend. I put on about 65 miles and used just over a tank of gas. And that's dune riding, lots of WOT hill climbing with only 2psi in the tires. I'd say that's damn good gas mileage.

First of all I can tell you that reserve is slightly less than one gallon. I've run out twice on the way to the station and both times it takes just over 3 gallons to fill.
I have been using my Eiger to plow snow, so only a little over half of my milage showed up on the last fill.
My last trip odometer was 15 miles. this is 99% first gear and less than 10mph. I would expect about 30 to 35 miles if all your running is in first gear and under 10mph. On another trip down a old road then a trapping trail we ran over 40 miles through all kinds of terrain and averaged 9 mph according to the gps. and I had lots of fuel left. I have herd of guys doing higher speed runs and making 100 miles plus.
Hope this helps.

"Your milage may vary"
I do mostly woods or technical trail riding and consistently get beteen 25 and 30 MPG. Works out to anywhere from 100 to 120 miles on a tank.

I've been getting about 20 miles per 1/4 tank in mixed trail riding (hills, straights, technical, etc.). Haven't had to use reseve yet.
