Default LT 230 s 1985 rear axle removal (chain driven model)

I need to replace rear axle bearings and I have gotten as far as taking off the lock nuts and inner nuts then pulling out either spacers or washers. I have the clymers manual but its not detailed enough in explanation. Does the sprocket flange stay with the axle or does it slide off of a spline that I can't see. Same thing with the Disk Brake rotor flange is it suppose to slide off of the spline, if so whats the secret, its tight and won't budge with prying and mild hammering with a mallet. The manual say slide the axle assembly out from the right side this would require that the sprocket flange be removed from the axle. When I look at the picture in the manual of the axle on a set of V-Blocks it shows one of the flanges still attached. I'm a little confused on which flange comes off the axle and which flange stays on or are thye both able to come off?

Rear calipers and sprocket is out of the way just to clarify its not something obvious holding the flanges in place. Its either a tight fit or a snap ring I don't see, whats the easiest way to get around the tight fit problem?
