I haven't rode the manual Vinson but have the Auto and can't imagine you needing anything more (powerwise). I've rode many other manual models and they were all fine but when riding on the tough stuff I don't like to worry about having to shift even it all you have to do is push a button now-a-days. I've had mine through water up to the racks, went over huge logs, and climbed up steep hills; power is not a problem.
Go for the Auto. Why shift when you don't have to?

Go for the auto. Just squeeze the throttle and go. Mine seems to pop or clunk when you shift. Seems to me the auto would be a bit smoother. I like to shift, and thats why I got the maual.

Yeah got a deal on the trailer at Alaska Dining and Mining. Wouldn't you belive it the day after I found three on the lemon lot for have the price.
I went out to Jim Creek last Sunday. It was a little wet but still had a great time. Like you said it has a little bit for everyone. Me and a friend are going back this Saturday. Had two small mishaps though. First one was when riding on the flats and hit a small hill and jumped. I wasn't expecting it but landed well and went on about my business. A few hours later I looked back and noticed my 5 gallon gas can full of gas was missing. I looked around but it was nowhere to be found. So if you ever out there and run out of gas just take a look around and you may get lucky. The second insident was late in the day. I was actually on my way back to the truck to pack it up. I noticed a few dirt trails in the woods and thought I'd check them out before leaving. Everything was going fine until I was going up a small but steep hill full of tree roots. It didn't help matters that was turning in the process but when going up my front tire got stuck on one of the roots and sent me rolling. I dismounted and there it went! It rolled exactly one time right back on the tires...I almost cried. I gave it a real good look over and didn't see any damage other than bent handle bars which luckily bent back fine. It started right back up and I headed home. After I got it home and washed it I took another good look at it and it was fine. I'll keep my fingers crossed this Saturday.
Thanks again for all your help. Not that I'm riding I'm always on the looking for new places to ride. By the way when do you think I should change the oil/filter for the first time?

Outrage,
Sounds like a adventure. I was there on saturday with my son and the wind was howling kicking up the sand. I ratchet my gas down because I have not lost any fuel cans but have seen them on the trail and always thought that would be a bad idea to lose it and need it. A bummer about rolling it, I did that quite a few times trying to go where i should not have gone but I figured I had a 4x4 one and I can make it, I got over that after awhile and learned where I can go and where I can not.
Changing the oil is recomened around 15 hours but if can I would do it around 5 to 10, that will be long enough for the metal pieces floating around from putting the engine together to get to the filter. Treedoc posted a thread about who pays attention about there first oil change and he talked about the metal in the oil. I checked mine when I did it and did notice small metal pieces and agree with him the sooner the better but you do have to wait till they get to the filter first. I am coming up on 30 hours on mine so I am going to change it again.
Glad to hear you found a trailer.
