i ran 160 and was running lean so jumped way up to 180 and it ran beatiful but the problem was i only needed half throttle to reach wide open any farther made it choke on the gas so i stepped down to 175 nd its seeme better on take off through 3rd but 4th 5th and 6ixth act as if im bogging at full throtle fine at half throttle
let me know if ya got any ideas im stock bore 38mm air stryker fmf gold series fatty pipe boysen reds and rad vlave no lid on airbox im gonna get a kand n filter and remove the airbox i dont think i getting enuff air wish i could get this done so i can start moding suspension next oh yeah i tryed comparing with a 1990 same setup but he has the small intake port and rad valve seeings i have the 87 with the bigget intake so who knows lol ( not me if worse comes worse ill put the 180 back in her and use it that way i was getting used to it and plug seems to be choclate caramel in color

its running great and caramel plug but it only takeshalf the twist throttle to reach wide open and if you go ny farther it chugs til u back it back off to wide open (being half throttle)

I'm gonna bump this to the top cause I'm also interested in the answer. I've also got the same carb on mine but I haven't run it yet and the previous owner said it probably needed to be jetted.

Your too rich on the main. you should only change jet sizes 1-2#s at a time. I would try a #168 main and mess with the clip position on the needle.
Hope this helps.

P.S. Unless you ride in the same area and have the same mods it doesn't help to compare to other peoples jettings.
