a 5hp briggs has a 3.75" piston. How many inches is your weed wacker piston (about 1.25" tops)

It depends on the dimensions of the pony.

I guess you would have to gut the pony then fill it with water and measure how much water was in the pony in CCs. LOL j/k

Actually, from a Briggs engine dealer's website:

Bore: 2.56"
Stroke: 2.44"

When I first read Justin's post I thought he was being harsh, but now I agree with him.

Ok so i was off on the piston size but I was correct on displacement. Straight from Briggs site for representation only.

GENERAL SPECS
Displacement: 18.6 cu. in. (305 cc)
Bore: 3.120 (79.25 mm)
Stroke: 2.438 in. (61.67 mm)
Compression Ratio: 8.0 to 1
Oil capacity: 26 fl. Oz. (.7 liters)

I wasn't tryn to make out like I know everything about lawnmowers. I was just making a comparison based on a lawnmower that I seen with the engine disasembled. I didn't have a tape measure and the piston looked like it was 3-4".

I shoulda got the facts first tho, huh?

That's weird, the site I looked at that sells Briggs engines gave Bore and Stroke specs that are totally different than the ones you're listing. It even had the picture next to the specs of a standard 5hp briggs engine.

Oh well! Not like it makes one freaking ounce of difference.

Why am I even replying????
