Default 2000 quadrunner 160 nuetral switch

ok im trying to help out my neighbors kid. both ends of the machine were toast put all new bearings seals bushings. it had a starting problem with the nuetral switch he said "oh i yank on this wire and it works" crude but effective! the banana connection was only by the cover. plugged that in bingo all is well. now after it sat 2 weeks getting the other ends done it WONT WORK. i chased everything no broken wires or shorts.

is there a way to bypass the nuetral switch ?

other than checking all the connections (done) what can fail the "switch" looks like it just makes a ground against a detent?

im sick of looking at it !

thanks in advance.
