A leakdown test requires a special tool. It pumps air pressure (7-15Lbs) into the coolant system and if the presure holds than your good. You can find one at most any auto part store. Only pump it up to the presure stated on the radiator cap.

Wrong leakdown my friend
.
You gotta block off anywhere air can get out, other than the seals you are testing(like plug hole etc.). Bolt it on to the reeds and seal it up, and add pressure. Very low pressure.

Ive never done it so maybe someone else can explain better...but its a start.

Leak down testing engine

-Done to verify that their are no air leaks which can cause the fuel air ratio to go dangerously lean
-Involves pressurizing the engine by a shrader valve that you screw in the spark plug hole by sealing off the exhaust and intake port and in some cases power valve holes i.e.: RM250
-Pressurize to approximately 10 psi and watch air gauge for fall in pressure
-Use soapy water to find the leak and repair, good luck
