Default Vinson + Winch

Guys, I have a 2004 vinson, and a buddy of mine had a winch in his garage that he purhcased when he bought his Kodiak about 1-2 years ago. Will I have a problem mounting this on my bike. I know the vinson looks like it already has a mounting brackett built in, but I want to get some help here before i try to install it.

Thanks

You will need a mounting plate, it bolts to the existing holes on your Vinson. You can get it from your dealer or from Ebay. I bought mine from my dealer for $65.00.

Thanks for the info, called my dealer $79, trying to call another one and see what they're selling it for.

Is the brackett all I'll need? I just have the stock bumper(plastic), but reall don't want to upgrade right now. The winch came with all the wiring, etc, and the mounting kit for the yamaha, but he last the installation manual, so I guess I'll get out on the web and find it.

Another question, If you buy a bumper, say a warn bumper, do you still need the brackett or is the bumper set up for it? I know where I could get a warn bumper for about $110, and if the winch would mount straight to that, then I might just go that way.

thanks

You'll have to buy a mounting plate. My 2004 Vinson already had the wiring running through it so I didn't have to use the power and ground wires that came with the winch. You can find the plate here for cheaper than what you dealer has it for.Mount Plate
I ordered a full skid plate set off them on a Monday night and recieved it Thursday so they were quick with me.

Stainless,

Thanks for the link!!! They only have it listed for an '02, but I don't think they've had any changes since then. Nothing like saving $30-40!

Thanks again.

Another question.

Does WARN make a switch to go on the handelbars? This kit has the big switch that I guess you mount through the plastic. Just looking for a way not to have to cut into the plastic if I don't have too.

Any replies appreciated

Thanks!

Does anybody know if you can buy that seperately? I've come across alot of kits, but I can't seem to just find the switch, etc.

dennis kirk has them, what we did for both of out winches, was use the button from the superwinch x1f, because it appears to be water proof, and i have already been through a warn switch, it isnt made that well imho, i also run the winch solonoidless, because of the fact, that i have been through 2, and i said enough is enough.
