Default Eiger jetting, stock is 122! WAY too lean

It's unbelievable how heavy 90 lbs. can be when dragging a carcass out of the woods. We hunt in WV and it's no cake walk to drag them down the mountain because of obstacles like dead falls, laurel thickets, boulders etc not to mention a portable tree stand, backpack and rifle on my back. The easiest drag was when I was up the mountain behind the cabin and shot a buck 210 yards down the mountain. It ran fifty yards from the cabin and collapsed dead. The second easiest was a hunt at Greenridge State Forest. This is where I ride my atv primarily and there is also a shooting range. One afternoon, I went to the range to sight in my Lyman Great Plains rifle and left there at about noon time. Rode the Eiger nine miles on top of the ridge and parked it. Walked about three hundred yards to a game trail and dropped off the side of the trail. I cut thee shooting lanes, sat down for about a half hour and shot a buck.(Christened my muzzle loader). Brought the four wheeler over and loaded him on to the front cargo rack and headed back to my truck passing the same hunters that I passed on the trail coming in. They had some choice words along with the allegation that I must have poached it the night before. Once they looked at the eyes and felt the body temperature, they just figured I was just some lucky SOB. I was actually apologetic because I've spent over half my life hunting and never had "That kind of luck". I was usually the "Poor SOB" that went with a flashlight and came out with one empty handed. It was simply my luck of the draw. It helped that I knew of the game trail from riding the atv and seeing deer and turkey cross the same spot but luck goes a long way.

Need to get back out and ride the Eiger again!!!

Default Eiger jetting, stock is 122! WAY too lean

Heya fellas. I found this thread almost 2 yrs ago and it helped me turn my Eiger into a different machine. Thanks aksafari! Unfortunately he sold his Eiger about a year ago.

I recently made the modification to my airbox that Chuck did. My engine seems to be running quite lean now. I'm currently fitted with a dj124 jet...sounds like its time to up that a bit...maybe dj126, 128 or 130! I had to restrict the airflow into the the airbox with some duct tape to get back to my old performance increases.

I have to say though...I'm a little excited about the prospect of needing to up my jet.

Default Eiger jetting, stock is 122! WAY too lean

Hey guys. I've been browsing this forum and thread for a long time. I recently snorkeled my '07 Eiger and rejetted and can't seem to get the mixture quite right. I've currently got it with a 122DJ and the idle screw is ~2-2.25 turns out. Until it's real warm, under any acceleration, it just spits and sputters and will not even move. I have to feather the gas real good in order to get her moving, once it's moving or warm, it runs real well. Do I need to go another jet higher? I've got 1.5" spa hose all the way from the air box to the front plastics and then I've got 2" PVC coming out the top. It seems like it's getting too much air for the amount of fuel but just wanted some others opinions. Thanks!

PS. I'm about 1000 ft above sea level.

What modification did this issue result from. This will help us isolate the problem.

Sorry, I forgot I posted in here.

It resulted from the snorkel. I am currently at a DJ124 and idle screw out 3 turns. It's starting to get better but I think I am going to up the pilot jet and see how that does.

i have a 05 eiger, and planed on doing the 132 main that you guys talk about but didn't want to wait and order it. so i just looked around and had a few old harley jet kits laying around and i put a 150 in mine lol... runs great with the box top off. i also did the slide mod with the 1/8 bit and cut the spring a tad (slide mod makes nice noticeable difference as it does on everything i have done it to in the past). my stock filter is ridiculously dirty so i will try a k&n with some holes cut in the neck of the stock intake with the box top on (i don't plan on sinking mine past the seat anyways, things don't last long when treated that way...) but anyway just letting you guys know the 135 will be no problem i mean hell a 150 is just over 20% bigger... thats nothing... im also at sea level

I tried the spring clip mod. Clipped an inch, 07 Eiger 4x4 auto. Fell on its face in 4 feet. Didnt see a difference on the low end or throttle response. Missing something here, or does it not work on the 4x4 auto machines? I didnt adjust the air screw or change the main jet. Pretty close to sea level here, near Lake Michigan. Trying to get just a bit more on the bottom end for torque with faster resonse. I.E. climbing a mound and want to punch it for quick response and wheel lift in high range. Maybe limited by the CV transmission vs the manual? Everything else is stock. Over all the machine is great for a 400 air cooled.

the only thing the spring clip and hole in the slide mod does is give it a tad better throttle response.. no power gain what so ever. if you want a little more power off the line your going to need a bigger main jet. don't do a 150 as i did, thats a little rich. im sure a 140 would be perfect with a k&n or uni filter. also to get more air for the jet, shave the neck of the intake you'll see what im taking about if you take the box top off and look at how it restricts itself,(its probably blocking 30% of what it could pull in...so just open the neck hole up. dont make the neck any shorter just open it up some, (its the part up against the red plastic behind the tank..and if you haven't yet, definently drill a hole in the slide. that makes a much bigger diff than clipping the spring.(theres an example of this on here with great pictures.. only thing is my eiger had a plastic slide, the pics show a metal one so just be careful drilling the plastic, make sure its straight before drilling) those combined with a bigger jet will make a noticeable low end difference.
but yes the auto could make these differences a little less noticeable because all autos slip to a certain degree before the belt bites. but i would think you will notice for sure with the jet along with the other 4 upgrades. air filter, spring clip, hole in slide and opening the air neck
