it says 246cm3 95% sure

are you going to get another quad when you sell yours?

Last weekend I started mine up with the choke on full and it was smoking, I hope its just the choke but probbobly not, the quad starts up first kick and runs great and is zippy, do you think I should get it fixed or just ride for the summer then get fixed.

I'de take the top end apart and check the rings, piston, cylinder, and valves. Check the valves for any carbon build-up. check the piston top aswell. Your rod could also be wearing and need replacing. you never know with 4-wheelers. Could just be the choke as well. Has it smoken since you kept the choke on ? . No i'm probably not going to get a wheeler for a while. I'm selling it so i can purchase my 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse

I started it up with the choke on full then I whent inside for a few minutes and came back out and their was quiet a bit of smoke, but once it warmed up it didnt smoke at all and after of and on riding all day it started it didnt smoke I didnt use the choke, but I geuss the reall test will be starting it after it has sat for a few weeks without the choke, next weekend maybe this one if it still smokes ill take the head of and asses the damage. and how much would I be looking to pay to the smoker to stop smoking assuming I need everything you mentioned?

Thanks

Cylinder is 75.00, Rings are 24.00, I dont remember how much the valves are, but they are probably around 10.00 - 20.00 each. It costs about 500.00 to get the whole top end done "cheap". (wiesco piston and rings, used lifters and rocker arms, used valves, etc...) It will cost about 650.00 to get a nice job on the top end. Its worth it though. typically Bore jobs cost around 44.00 - 150.00 to get it bored. Im not sure how much my bore job costed me, but it was worth it. If you want to chat sometime, that would be cool. I use msn. My email is nemonxp@msn.com. Later

I would't worrey to much about the smoke if the bike runs good and has good power since it goes away after warmed up. It must just be burning alittle oil? Have you checked your plug, is it oiled? Are you going through oil? I see a little smoke when my quad is cold, but what the heck ride till a real problem is obvious. Check your compression to check your rings since you still have good power. It should't have anything to do with the choke since the choke just adds more air\fuel when cold! Good luck, Be safe and Insane.

Hey, its happening to me also .. the blue smoke. I know what it is too . Even if you turn your gas off on the tank, your carb is still full of gas. Your carb. needs rebuilt. Mine did too. it cost me $25. After i stuck the rebuilt carb in, it ran fine. What is actually happening is that gas is leaking into your cylinder and washing the oil off the inside of the cylinder. After you start it up, it burns the oil / gas mixture out of it and then it stops until you start it again. What i found helped was to Turn the gas off, and open the Overflow valve and let the excess gas drain out. Do that until you get your carb rebuilt.

Smoking ... ooo Thats a bad sign . First, I would suggest Taking top part of the engine off, and checking compression, piston wearage, Cam, Cam Chain, Valves, Valve Springs, Seals, Cylinder wearage. When I first got my quad, it smoked really bad as well. I had to get the whole top end rebuilt, which cost about $250 in parts. ($500 for professional installation). Next .. Fenders. I would suggest going to http://www.BikeBandit.com/ and checking there. Sometimes they have OEM or aftermarket replacements. If nothing comes up there, i suggest Ebay or going to your local ATV Repair Shop and asking if they have any BLIPS (or defective OEM Fenders). You might be able to get a good deal through Ebay or the dealer. You can buy an Aftermarket exhaust off of Bike Bandit as well, but Im not sure about the header pipe. You might be lucky by going on Ebay and trying to find one. Maybe theres one on Bike Bandit as well. Well, i hope that helps a little. Good luck, and Be patient. Like i said earlier in the message .. I would suggest getting a Professional Rebuild unless you are mechanically inclinded. The reason i say this is because the pistons / Rings must have a certain amount of compression, and the valves and timing chain must be set correctly, or you would get a misfire, and possibly risk damaging your cylinder. If you do decide to buy all the parts and do it yourself, First open up your Oil drain, and drain the oil out completely.. This may take a while. Next, take off the stator cover, and while using the foot crank move the Magneto coil so it it possitioned on the 0 where the arrow points to it. This will ensure your valves and your piston is in the correct possition. Then, starting from the top of the engine, work your way down. Also, Buy a Gasket Kit for it, because im sure the head gaskets are either blown out or worn down a lot. Good Luck Man!!
