Hey my bro got his 500 engine sent away to get reworked majorly as in like most if not all of DR Q's RXs for the engine....anyways my bro basically got taken with only getting a basic rebuild and some of the ports cleaned up for $876. My question is will he still be able to run 110 octane or will he blow the head gasket? Hes running a 43mm Mikuni flatslide with a Dynoport pipe (don't know which of the 2) and V-force reeds and cage.
Oh and where do you think is the best place to get the head o-ringed?
If this don't make sense I'm sorry I was half awake when I posted this......
Thanks a bunch

SS: Sounds like another bad screwing from a less than adequate builder... Sorry to hear that.
Not any shops that I'm aware of that will build to the Rx specs... I don't think you realize how drastic those specs are. (At least the porting specs... the rest is design shortfalls)
Also, you might want to look at the mikuni flat slide... No way it's 43mm... the 38mm stocker can be bored to around 39 or so.
Slacker is right... you don't need 110 octane fuel if it's stock compression... Higher octane fuels only reduce detonation... no extra power, no other benefit.
I wouldn't run anything less than 93 in a stock motor...
$876 isn't much ca-ching for a complete motor rebuild... I doubt they fixed much of anything other than installed a new piston, and mebbe cleaned the casting flash from the ports.
Sorry to hear that.... Buyer beware as always...
Regards,

I'm not saying your false about the carb but I'm pretty sure about it being 43mm....Ok then who in your opinion does good porting.....do you do your own? My brother wants to spank a 410 banshee thats a friend of his....oh and " I doubt they fixed much of anything other than installed a new piston, and mebbe cleaned the casting flash from the ports"<-------Thats all the guy did....my brother would like to have his head have the o-ring design instead of of a regular head gasket along with the squish being fixed so it doesn't cause pre-ignition. Who does that?
Reply with your best thoughts thanks...Anyone else can relply also
I just want the thing to run as good as it looks.....

Try looking over at the planet sand forums, DR Q hangs out there sometimes also. They all recommend Tony at T&N cycle. I think DR Q even gave him the OK. I think you will have to register to do a search. I don't have his number handy but if you look over there you should be able to find it if you need it right away.
