The 38mm carb isn't too big. I know a few guys who run 38mm carbs on TRX and LT 250r's with only mild motor work. I know its not too big but I, like you seem to be, am unsure of the proper jetting. Once you get that right your LT should run strong.

Hey AKSAFARI, I just bought a 38mm Flat Side Keihin carb for my '86 TRX250R. It's 30 over with a CT pipe Pyramid Reed Force Valves and I've got the airbox lid removed. You sound like a man who knows jetting so what jet would be a good place to start to fine tune my bike? Thanks!

Hey, thanks for the compliment, but I have NO IDEA. Take the jet that's in it, then I'd go 2 or 3 jets larger to start out. Make sure your needle clip is in the center slot. Once you get close with your jet, move your needle up/down one tick to fine tune.
I'd just try and start out rich, then work toward lean, rather than the other way around. Lean is dangerous, rich is just annoying.

I suggest finding a friend or someone who knows how to jet. There is no, one correct answer, anyone can give you, unless we personaly look at your quad. If it is lean, get larger jets, if it is rich get smaller jets. That the best we can do truthfully

You wont have a problem running a 38mm carb on the LT. It will work good once you get it jetted right. You might want to start a new topic and ask what jetting you should use. Once you get it dialed in the LT will scream and will work even better if you do some work to your motor.

No, dont start a new topic on what jetting to use, find someone to jet it. Without being by your quad, we can only guess.

1badr- Most 38mm carbs come with a main of about 170. Thats to fat for your bike. Put a 162 in it and go down from there.

anyways a 38mm is not to big for a stock 250. you will loose some bottom end though, but it should run alot smoother and rev higher/quicker with the 38mm.
