38mm carb for 36, any takers?
With a 2 stroke, I'd think a 38mm carb would be fine. Now, a 250 FOUR stroke, that'd be over carb'd, in my humble opinion.
Your bike will probably idle rougher than you're used to, but it should RIP at top end. Just take some time to jet it right.
Do some research, check out what other guys are using on 250 2 strokes. Do a search on the forum.

These are all quotes I found by searching "lt250r" and "carb"
tried both Mikuni and Keihin on my 87 LT250R and the best carb i found was a ESR Mikuni TMXx 36mm. Starts great and runs like a champ, with easy jet changes. I know a lot of people that love there Keihin, and I know they are good carbs, but don't count out the Mikuni. If you go with a Keihin stay away from the PJ's...they idle like %$#%.
The 38mm Mikuni works real good on mine too. It screams from start to finish, nice and smooth powerband. You also can get them for 50$ or so on Ebay.
I have a 38mm Mikuni Flat Slide, and it works great. And yes, it does make a big difference, especially if you do get P&P in the future.
If you are going to Port and Polish your motor in the future dont screw around with those little carbs get a Keihn 39mm PWK and be done with it 38 PWKs are good too PJ's are junk
MIKUNIS ARE JUNK they bog if you do any type of racing like for instance MX or SX it cant take the whoops and big jumps you could use a PC RACING carb vent system but that only works a little.

38mm carb for 36, any takers?
Hey AKSAFARI, I just bought a 38mm Flat Side Keihin carb for my '86 TRX250R. It's 30 over with a CT pipe Pyramid Reed Force Valves and I've got the airbox lid removed. You sound like a man who knows jetting so what jet would be a good place to start to fine tune my bike? Thanks!
