Autoclutch slippage?
#2
try starting out on pavement or concrete. does the engine rev up without spinning the tires? Can you hold the brakes while in gear and MAKE it slip?
EDIT: I use synthetic oil (Castrol). NO PROBLEMS. Do a search, you won't find a single person saying they've had problems using synthetic, you'll only hear people saying they've 'heard of problems'.

I am using Mobil 1 MX4-T in it it is fully synthetic but is for crotch rokets and designed for use in a wet sump motor and meets all the classifications all other atv designed oils do so...

Get into fifth gear at a fairly slow speed, enough to just pull the gear comfortably and on a good open piece of road. Lift the shifter again as though you have a sixth gear and hold it up. This is clutch in. Rev it up and drop the lever with the throttle on. It should instantly grab and be pulling fifth at the right RPM for the speed. If it revs up or slowly moans down in rpm then it's slipping. Try the adjustment, make sure you have the right M/C oil in it and if it still slips you must have worn fiber plates in the clutch and will need new ones. Don't slip it much or you'll warp the steel plates and it will cost you more for a whole new clutch pack. Autoclutches are good when you get used to them and educate your foot. You can do everything a hand clutch can do and more.
