Quadsport 230??

Hello everybody,
I'm having few probs with a 230. First, I can't tell what model it is. Most of the ones I've seen are kick start, and are manual clutch. This one I'm working on is auto clutch, 5 speed. Also, it has electric start and pull? I'm wondering if the motor was translplanted? The vin checks out to be the 230, and every sticker is "Quadsport" or "230". The model is still chain drive. Was this model of the 230 ever made? On the cylinder, it still says 229 cm3, so it is a 230 motor. It has reverse, which is a lever lever you click back with your left foot. In place of the clutch, is the parking brake. There is a window thing for checking the oil. I'm just wondering if there was ever a model like this? It came with a rack too. There is one prblem with the motor though...The motor seems to run great, but it is extremely sluggish when ever you rev it. It doesn't matter if its in gear, or in neutral. My guess is that the choke is stuck. How far down should that plunger go? Right now, it just goes to where the choke limiter can be pushed in, but it won't go any lower than that. Is that low enough? Or is the choke backwards? The choke lever was busted, so I pulled the cable out. Pulling the cable should put it on choke right? It runs a tad better when I let go of the cable, but it still just doesn't want to get up and go like it should. there is tons of compressing, and the carb opens all the way, and as I stated earlier, it starts like a dream, just one light pull, and it fires. I haven't had the chance to pull the carb off, which I should. The people that own it got it from the shop, that couldn't get the thing to even run. Now that I've got it run, it runs like it can only get to 1/2 throttle, or less. The air cleaner is clean.....

I think its called an LT230E. My girlfriend has the same one. Id suggest replacing the broekn choke parts. The cable not only pulls its but pushes it back in, so you may bever be able to push it bask as far as the choke lever can. Also the calbe could be frayed inside and not want to go back all the way. Im having that problem with hers right now.

Yes I have, the plug is black, but is very charcoaly-like. Btw, where in washington are you zman420? I don't think the cable is the problem. It is a bit fstiff, but I can push it back down. Even if I take the cable out, the plunger still won't go down farther then it can with the cable..

Well, thanks for your help all! I found the problem! I had a hunch that something was going on with the intake. I take the valve cover off, and sure enough, the retainer nut was gone! It fell off, and I found it in the head. It was extremly loose also, almost 1/4 inch of gap! That much gap wouldn't let all the fuel and air enter, so it had no power. I fixed it all up, and pulled the cord. It started much easier, no more choke. It's a tad rich, but it is still very good. I hopped on, and putted around. I got on the pipe, and this loud rumble came from the tail pipe. Now I know it's a cobra pipe! lol It's cool how its quiet until you get on the throttle. Yup, its a 230 e, I just found it under the VIN#. Well, thanks for your help!
