Timing specs for zilla?
#1
What should I set the timing at(degrees BTDC)? I have lots of motor work: Paul Turner Elim. porting, 39mm DR Keihin carb, Pyramid reeds, 1.5mm overbore Wiseco Pro-lite piston, Paul Turner exhaust. Before any self proclaimed "zilla experts" says that I dont have to mess with the timing, I would like to let them know that I have a PVL ignition, and it requires me to set the timing.

geez, I'm not a 'self proclaimed zilla expert' so guess I can't help you....
on a STOCK ignition, mine runs best set right at zero (Marks aligned) As you know these motors are very prone to detonation, and much timing advance improves those chances of it hammering.
I'd suggest you play with it and find out what works best for you.

Lining up the marks on a stock stator DOES NOT mean the spark occurs at TDC. It has to occur BTDC in order to be burn'n good by the time max compression occurs. With your aftermarket ignition, the line probably does designate TDC. Thus you would want to be before that. If I remember correctly, the stock 500 is 6 deg. BTDC but don't quote me (I'm too lazy to run out to the garage and check).
